ShuruqShuruq works without an account. The app has no advertising or analytics. Reading and prayer features keep the information below on your device. Apple and other services may process information when you choose to use their system features.
Information on your device
Shuruq stores app settings and activity locally so it can remember your experience and show widgets. This can include reading position, reading-path progress and completions, bookmarks, reading-day streak dates, dhikr count and preferences, display and translation settings, selected prayer-time city and coordinates rounded to two decimal places, and your Verse First app selection. The app does not send this information to a Shuruq account or server.
Verse First uses Apple’s Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks. Your selected apps and shields are managed on your device by Apple’s frameworks. Shuruq does not receive a report of which apps you use or how you use them.
If you enable reminders, Shuruq schedules local notifications through iOS. Reminder settings and notification delivery are handled on your device.
Location and city search
You can enter a city for prayer times, or choose to grant Shuruq access to your location. When you choose current location, the app uses the location provided by iOS and saves coordinates rounded to two decimal places. You can instead enter a city. The city text is sent to Apple’s geocoding service to find coordinates; the resulting city and rounded coordinates are saved on your device. Apple’s handling of these requests is governed by Apple’s privacy terms. Shuruq does not operate a location server.
Location is optional. You can change the saved city or manage Shuruq’s location permission in iOS Settings.
Purchases
Premium subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through StoreKit and your Apple Account. Shuruq receives purchase and entitlement results needed to unlock the features you bought; it does not receive your payment card details. Apple’s privacy policy applies to Apple Account and payment processing.
Sharing and links
If you copy or share a verse, iOS places the selected text or image on the clipboard or presents its system share sheet. Information you choose to share is handled by the destination you select. Opening a Shuruq link in a browser or another app sends ordinary request information to that browser, app, and website host under their own terms. Shuruq does not receive a copy of your share or browser activity.
Website requests
This site has no sign-in, advertising, analytics, or contact form. The hosting provider may process ordinary web request data, such as an IP address and requested page, to deliver and protect the site. The provider’s privacy terms apply to that processing.
Your choices and export
There is no Shuruq account or server-side reading history. In Settings, you can export your data to a file that you keep: reading days and path progress, bookmarks and your last position, memorisation practice, breaks, dhikr, the days of your sky calendar, reading preferences and prayer settings, including your saved location. Your reminder and prayer alert choices are saved in the file for reference, but importing never turns alerts on. You can import that file on another device, where it is added to what is already there. Purchases and Screen Time selections are never included. Keep an exported file somewhere private.
In Settings, you can also erase local activity and clear the saved location. Erasing activity does not cancel an Apple subscription. iOS device backup and data controls are managed by Apple.
Children and changes
Shuruq does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If the app’s data practices change, this policy will be updated before those changes take effect.
